MARIST DADIANGAS COMMUNITY

A Compassionate Presence in General Santos By Marist East Asia

The Marist Dadiangas Community, located in General Santos City, Philippines, is one of the vibrant religious communities of the Marist East Asia Province, where Marist Brothers live together in fraternity and dedicate themselves to the mission of making Jesus Christ known and loved in the way of Mary. Inspired by the life and vision of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, the Brothers seek to be a compassionate and life-giving presence among children, young people, families, and the wider community, especially those who are poor and most in need.

Primary Apostolic Ministry

Notre Dame of Dadiangas University

The primary apostolic ministry of the Marist Dadiangas Community is its service to Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU), one of the leading Catholic educational institutions in Mindanao. In collaboration with lay Marists and partners in mission, the Brothers are actively involved in educational leadership, pastoral ministry, values formation, youth ministry, and the promotion of Catholic and Marist identity. Through education, they seek to form young people who are academically competent, morally upright, socially responsible, and deeply rooted in faith.

Community Life

Rooted in prayer, fraternity, and apostolic service, the Marist Dadiangas Community embodies the Marist values of Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and Following in the Way of Mary. Through their common life, the Brothers strive to create a welcoming home where faith, mutual support, and joy are nurtured and shared.

Their community life reflects the dream of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, who envisioned communities of Brothers united in love and committed to the evangelization of young people.

Pastoral Initiatives

General Santos

Beyond the university setting, the Brothers participate in various pastoral, social, and community development ministries within General Santos City and the neighboring areas.

Inspired by the Marist tradition of preferential love for the poor, they accompany children, young people, and families through programs that promote human dignity, solidarity, and integral development.

Their presence seeks to be a sign of hope and a witness to the Gospel values.
