Primary Apostolic Ministry

Notre Dame of Cotabato

The primary apostolic ministry of the Marist Cotabato Community is its dedicated presence and guidance at Notre Dame of Cotabato (NDC), the historic mother school of Marist education in Asia founded in 1948. In close collaboration with lay Marist partners, the Brothers foster academic rigor, Christian brotherhood, moral integrity, and peace education across Cotabato City and the Bangsamoro region. Rooted in Catholic excellence and interreligious harmony, they form young people who are academically competent, socially responsible, and deeply devoted to faith.

Community Life & Fraternity

Rooted in prayer, fraternity, and apostolic service, the Marist Cotabato Community embodies the Marist values of Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and Following in the Way of Mary. Through their common life, the Brothers create a welcoming spiritual home where faith, mutual support, and solidarity are nurtured and shared.

Their community life reflects the spirit of the first American Marist pioneers who landed in 1948, united in brotherhood and committed to evangelization.

Peace Education & Dialogue

Cotabato City

Beyond the classroom, the Brothers actively participate in interreligious dialogue, youth accompaniment, and social development ministries across Cotabato City and the Bangsamoro region.

Inspired by the Marist tradition of preferential love for those most in need, they accompany young Christians, Muslims, and Indigenous youth through programs promoting mutual respect, peace, and human dignity.

Rooted in prayer, community life, and apostolic service, the Marist Cotabato Community embodies the Marist values of Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and Following in the Way of Mary. Through their common life, the Brothers strive to create a welcoming home where fraternity, mutual support, and faith are nurtured and shared. Their life together seeks to reflect the spirit of the first Marist community at l'Hermitage, where Saint Marcellin Champagnat dreamed of a family of Brothers united in mission and love.

Active Engagement

The Marist Cotabato Community is actively engaged in various ministries entrusted to the Province. Through education, pastoral work, social development, and accompaniment of young people and families, the Brothers collaborate closely with lay Marists and numerous partners in mission. Their presence in Cotabato City through the Notre Dame of Cotabato, Inc., a place marked by cultural and religious diversity, is a testimony to the values of dialogue, peace, mutual respect, and solidarity among peoples of different traditions and beliefs.

Social Development

The community is also closely connected with various social and development ministries of the Province, contributing to programs that promote integral human development, the welfare of children and youth, peacebuilding initiatives, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. In all these endeavors, the Brothers seek to embody the Gospel values of compassion, reconciliation, and hope.
